Compared to most other Spidey writers after Brand New Day, Dan Slott is my favorite by far. This book kind of drags a bit with the tie-in Ends of Earth mini, but the rest is excellent. The setup for this epic starts way back, and the previous trade: Spider-Man: Trouble on the Horizon leads right into this, but when read alone, the story still works. This is one of my favorites as of late.

Da wird nichts unnötig beschrieben oder in die Länge gezogen – und man kann sich die Figuren auch gut vorstellen. BZ: Mir gefiel bereits der letzte Roman von Angelika Waldis, «Einer zuviel».
Zunächst werden auf die theoretischen Probleme bei der Implementierung von wahren Ereignissen bzw. wissenschaftlichen Fakten in ein fiktives Umfeld behandelt. Eine umfassende Darlegung der Gattungs- sowie Theoriegeschichte gibt Einblick in die Ursprünge und Entwicklung deshistorischen Romans und die ihn begleitende wissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung.
Der Roman erinnert an Kafka, Melville und Ovid. Die Erzählung von Leben und Tod, Ohnmacht und Widerstand schildert Han Kang ungemein konsequent. Die Sprache der Autorin ist schlicht und sehr direkt. Han Kang lässt viele Fragen offen. Yeong-Hye bleibt ein Rätsel. Der Roman ist ein Ereignis. Eine Lektüre, die verstört.
